When it comes to shampoos after a transplant, the main goal early on is gentle cleansing without causing any irritation, especially in the first couple of months while your scalp is healing.
Most doctors recommend sticking with mild, sulfate and methylisothiazolinone-free shampoos during this time. Around the 3-month mark, once the healing phase is largely complete and new growth begins, many patients start using shampoos with active ingredients like biotin, caffeine, or ketoconazole — depending on their surgeon’s advice.
