The Story of My Wisdom Tooth Removal in Turkey

Hi everyone! This is my first post in the forum and I wanted to share my experience in wisdom tooth removal in Turkey.

I’m 27 years old and this is the 3rd time I remove my wisdom tooth . So, I’m accustomed to it but this time the situation was different and sensitive. I had a Mesial Impacted wisdom tooth as you can see in the X-rays below and the position of the tooth was misaligned with the other teeth.

Therefore, it requires a minor surgery to remove it and the removal won’t be easy as doctors say.

I had this wisdom tooth since 2015 but it didn’t come out and it never caused any pain. Until recently it started growing out of the gum causing some mild pain and it was also annoying when food becomes trapped inside.

One day I went with my friend to her dentist in Istanbul for a regular checkup and I decided to get mine checked as well. I took my old X-rays which I did few years ago and showed it to the dentist.

After the examination the doctor recommended me to immediately remove my wisdom tooth but he said that there will be a very slight risk after the operation.
He said that the tooth is very close to the nerve and there might be a possibility of losing sensation of the lower lip. When I asked him if this is temporary, he said that it could be for a short time (4-6) months or it could be permanent.

I honestly freaked out when he said that and hesitated to remove it . But I needed a second opinion from a more professional clinic or dental hospital that has deep experience in wisdom tooth removal in Turkey especially like the one in my case.

I went back home and started searching for the best dental clinic in Istanbul and luckily, I found
Clinic Advisor platform. The good thing about the team at Clinic Advisor is that they really assist you in finding the best treatment according to your needs.

I explained my concerns to them and how complicated my issue was, and they guided me to book an appointment for consultation with a specialized hospital in dental treatments.

The second day I went to the hospital and had an initial consultation with the dentist who told me the same thing about the tooth being close to the nerve. He then transferred me to an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon to precisely explain all the complications and risks that could happen.

The surgeon reassured me that this is a very low risk and during her 20 years of experience it never happened to anyone. She told me that it all depends on how the tooth will be removed and the technique applied.

She asked me for a tomography to clearly see where the nerve is passing from and how close it is from the tooth. That way she will be able to decide how the removal procedure will be done. I did the tomography as she asked and brought it back to her and we decided on a date to remove it.

31st January 2020, I bid farewell to my precious tooth 😁. The surgery went very smooth and the doctor’s approach was very friendly and comforting. It didn’t even take more than 15 minutes to remove it.

Today marks the 6th day after my wisdom tooth removal in Turkey and thank god the swelling wasn’t too bad just like the doctor told me.

Finally, I would like to thank Clinic Advisor team for their amazing coordination and assistance. Everything was arranged for me and I’m very satisfied with their services.

Thank you for sharing. That was so beneficial for me. Guess what, i removed my right wisdom tooth at the same place. Super reasonable price and professional (y).Thank you so much for suggesting the hospital and the doctor. i was extremely happy. i even was planning to get my second one (left one) removed a month after, but had pain in my right side under the tooth next to the removed one. It persisted for almost two months and couldn't eat hard foods on that side. anyways it disappeared 2 months later and now am planning to get my second one removed there. What i loved most was the care and the process itself during the surgery, you could tell they are professional. All went so smooth and professional. i liked the team and there approach on calming me down as it was my first time in my life visiting a dentist for wisdom tooth removal. Thumbs up for Dr. Muazzez @ medipol and Thanks for ClinicAdvisor team for the beautiful coordination

And let me not forget to mention the negatives, i didn't like how they rushed me out after the surgery done without comfortable explanation for what to do next. i can say that was the only negative part in my experience
